May I Have Your Attention?

Art teachers, are you looking for some fun new "Call & Response" attention getters in the art room? I've compiled a list of some of my favorites from here and there.

Here's a list of "Call & Response" attention-getters.

I say, Mona ... They say, Lisa!

I say, Van ... They, say Go!
(This can work for any artist that you are studying!)

I say, Macaroni & cheese ... They say, FREEZE! (and freeze)

I say, 1...2...3...eyes on me ... They say, 1...2...eyes on you!

I say, Red Yellow Blue ... They say, I hear you!

I say, Tootsie Roll, Lollipop ... They say, We were talking, now we stop!

I say, Ready to Rock! ... They say, Ready to Roll!

I say, Hocus Pocus! ... They say, Ready to Focus!

Use Movement!

I say, Moose's up! ... They *make moose antlers with their hands*

I say, Take your hands and open up your listening ears ... They *pretend to open their ears*

I say Everyone stop ... They say Put your hands on top! *put their hands on their heads*

I say, Give me 5! (and put my hand in the air) ... They *put their hands in the air*
This is a good one if you have a hearing-impaired student. For this one, it's also good to have "5 things" that you are looking for.
Here is one example:
  • Eyes
  • Mouths
  • Ears
  • Hands
  • Brains
I say, Show me the Mona ... They *sit up straight with their hands in their lap (like Mona)*

I say, Freeze ... They *freeze mid-motion*

I say, Edvard Munch ... They say, The Scream *pose with mouth open and hands on the side of their heads*

Help me make this list longer!  Do you have a call and response that works for you?  Share it in the comments and I will add it to the list.

Bonus if it is art-related!
